From 1 Oct 2026 the government buys free disaster insurance for 30 million households, covering flood, storm and earthquake for one year (renewed yearly). Flood payout: ฿10,000 immediately, actual loss up to ฿90,000 more, ฿100,000 cap per home. Waterlogging over 7 days adds ฿10,000. Death from disaster accident: up to ฿2 million per person. Events before 1 Oct get the old ฿9,000 relief. Claims are per event and cannot be double-paid for the same flood. For a shop or factory, this covers the home only, so check your own business property insurance separately.
