The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) met insurers on 28 September 2026 about flood damage in several provinces. Insurers say clear, verifiable claims will be paid within 7 days, including in Bangkok. Total-loss claims on financed or hire-purchase cars are slow because lenders are slow to send documents; the OIC will work with the Thai Bankers' Association to speed this up. Insurers are sending surveyors out early and taking claims by phone, LINE and online. If your shop, home or vehicle is flooded, report the claim now, keep photos and policy documents ready, and tell your car lender or leasing company so papers can move. Surveyors may be delayed in areas where water is still high.
