Flooding in central and western growing areas and higher fuel costs have pushed up vegetable prices, with some items doubling (long beans from 10 to 20 baht per bunch, with fewer pieces). Festival spending is forecast at 46,913 million baht (+2.2%), but the share of Thais intending to go vegetarian fell to 32%, the lowest in 11 years, and some are cutting vegetarian days to 2-3. Restaurants face higher ingredient and rent costs, so review menu prices, supplier sources and stock for the festival period. The Commerce Ministry has a war room tracking markets and is pushing for price restraint; check current prices before committing to fixed-price menus.
