The Election Commission has resolved to bring criminal cases against 1,767 Senate candidates (1,605 at a 19 May 2026 meeting, plus 162 more on 4 June 2026). Under section 74 of the Senate selection organic law, knowingly filing while ineligible carries 1-10 years in prison, a fine of 20,000-200,000 baht, and a 20-year loss of voting rights. Cases are passing to provincial election offices. For a typical SME owner this is background only: no action needed unless you or your staff were involved in a Senate candidacy.
