Thai Durian Association says flood damage in Chanthaburi and Rayong is about 40,000 rai on preliminary figures, likely understated because farmers outside the registry are not counted. The trees themselves are the concern, not current fruit, since Chanthaburi has no crop out now. October-November is the bud-preparation period, so ongoing waterlogging matters for next season. Export impact cannot be confirmed until post-flood surveys show how many trees died or were badly damaged. For durian-linked suppliers and buyers, plan for tighter supply next season, and register any damage with the provincial agriculture office early, since the process is slow.
