Cambodian workers have left Thailand after the border clashes, and estimates of how many differ (about 194,000 remaining per JSCCIB versus 495,271 registered in March). Thailand extended work permits for Myanmar, Lao and Vietnamese workers to 11 December 2027, but that keeps existing staff and does not add new ones. Recruiting new workers is harder and costlier because of travel and agency fees, and Sri Lanka's deal is still unsigned. Expect shortages in seasonal farming, construction, factories and services.
