The Mae Klong Dam is raising discharge from about 1,700 to an expected 2,000 cubic metres per second, above the 1,500 critical level, after heavy rain in western Kanchanaburi. Downstream parts of Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Samut Songkhram face imminent flooding, and the regional irrigation office has told residents to move belongings to higher ground. Nationally, 1,162 SMEs and 52 factories across 40 provinces have already been hit, with damage estimated above US$320 million. If your premises, stock or vehicles sit in low-lying downstream areas, move them now and check your flood insurance cover.
