The Finance Ministry is accelerating a rooftop solar scheme for households: a 50,000-baht subsidy per household under the second energy-transition programme, net billing so surplus power can be sold to the grid and offset against bills, and low-interest loans from the Government Savings Bank and Government Housing Bank. Target is 500,000 to 1 million households with bills of 3,000-4,000 baht a month; a minimum 5 kW system costs slightly over 100,000 baht. Officials estimate break-even in 3-4 years. No start date or application window has been announced yet. Businesses that install or sell solar, or that run premises with high power use, should watch for contractor screening by MEA and PEA and for locally made panel support from the Board of Investment.
