The Tourism and Sports Ministry plans to charge foreign visitors 450 baht each, starting with air arrivals. Public consultation showed 80.5% support, and the fee is expected to raise about 8,000 million baht a year for a tourism fund. The draft still needs cabinet approval, then a 180-day system set-up period, so the target start is Q1 2570 (2027). Land and sea collection is deferred by one year. Hotels, tour operators and shops serving foreign guests should watch how the fee is passed on to bookings and plan for possible slower bookings from price-sensitive markets. Border traders have asked for exemptions.
