A US report (The Great Transshipment Scam, released 13 Aug 2026) puts Thailand in Tier 2 for possible Chinese transshipment, alongside Brazil, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey and Vietnam. It does not mean Thailand is found guilty, and it is not a new tax. But US customs (CBP) may use it to screen exporters, importers, factories and shipping routes, asking for more origin documents. The article estimates THB 172,000-345,000 million of exports in 8 sectors could face closer checks. If you export to the US, keep traceable records from supplier to raw material and component, and confirm that the importer of record has them.
