Bangkok has cancelled the Bueng Khu Bon and Bang Chan flood retention pond project, now estimated at about 11,000 million baht, because it holds only about 700,000 cubic metres (about 500,000 usable). The city says Bueng Hnong Bon, which can manage roughly 5 million cubic metres and links to tunnels and main canals, is the better option for the eastern districts. For a Bangkok SME, this shifts flood-control spending toward the east-side canal and pump network, so check whether your area's drainage plans change before you commit to flood-protection works or property purchases there.
