The Commerce Ministry says the old Chanthaburi fruit hub project cannot proceed in its original form because of budget, site and public-private partnership law limits. Instead it will plan around buyer demand: studying each export market's needs by variety, size and quality before the 2027 season, opening new markets to reduce reliance on one buyer, and pushing processing, especially durian, for fruit that does not meet fresh-market specs. Fruit exports for the first seven months of 2026 reached about 145,892 million baht, already above all of 2025. For fruit growers, traders and processors, the practical signal is to watch for export-market requirements and processing demand rather than waiting for a central hub.
