The Commerce Ministry says essential-goods stock is sufficient despite floods, and has set up a War Room under the Internal Trade Department to push supply into flooded areas. Officials will check whether price rises from existing stock reflect real cost increases; penalties for unjustified hikes reach 7 years' jail and a 140,000 baht fine. Food-service prices (ready meals, food courts, markets) are also being watched. Egg measures: exporters asked to cut shipments 30-50% or delay 2-3 weeks, and layers' cage periods extended 3-5 weeks.
