Severe floods in Bangkok, central and eastern Thailand led to 5,433 hotel room nights being cancelled or postponed between 27 Sept and 4 Oct, per the Thai Hotels Association. Eastern hotels (Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi) report about 50% cancellations since last week, and some cannot reopen because main roads are flooded. Hotels are offering free postponement. The THA expects October occupancy to fall 5-10% year on year as locals hold back on spending, and new bookings are slowing ahead of high season. If you run a hotel, guesthouse or a tourism-linked business, plan for lower cash flow and consider flexible rebooking terms. The THA has asked government for tax relief and for the 450-baht foreign tourist fee to be postponed; these are requests, not decisions.
