A fire on Monday 3 August 2026 destroyed a three-storey building in Karon, Phuket, housing a resort restaurant and a massage and onsen spa. Police say a light bulb near a lift reportedly exploded and started it. Flames spread fast because the upper floors held large amounts of combustible spa cloths and cushions. No injuries were reported; losses are not yet assessed and the cause is still under investigation. For a Thai business with fixed electrics and soft furnishings, check fittings and wiring, keep extinguishers accessible, and review insurance cover for fire damage.
