Six of seven major Japanese carmakers (Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Suzuki, Mitsubishi) returned to profit or grew net profit in Q2 (Apr-Jun), helped by a weaker yen, strong North American and Japanese demand, and US tariff cuts under the Japan-US deal. Toyota cut its full-year forecast for Middle East war and Hormuz rerouting costs to 510 billion yen from 670 billion yen, and Nissan raised its estimated hit for the first half of its fiscal year. For a Thai SME, this is background: a weaker yen can make Japanese-brand parts and vehicles cheaper to import, and Middle East logistics costs are still rising, which may show up in parts and freight prices later.
