BOI approved Toyota Thailand's 1.49 billion baht investment to build 3,000 hydrogen fuel-cell Hilux pickups a year at its Ban Pho plant in Chachoengsao, with production due December 2027, mainly for export to Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Toyota plans to buy about 640 million baht a year of local parts, including air-conditioning, seats, tyres, wiring and interior components. For most small firms this is not a change to act on now, but Thai parts suppliers in those categories should note the sourcing opportunity and the quality and certification standards Toyota will transfer.
