The Labour Ministry is discussing a draft minimum standard for film, series and drama crews, whether employees or freelancers. Proposed terms: written contracts before day one stating scope, pay, OT rates and payment dates; normal hours capped at 10, maximum 14, with at least 12 hours' rest between shifts; a safety officer on set; child performer permits; and consent and pay before using voices or images for AI training. This is still a draft, not law. If your business produces content or hires freelance crew, start putting written contracts and clear OT and pay dates in place now.
