The new National Savings Fund (กอช.) secretary-general wants 140,000 more members by year-end, reaching 3 million, and aims to lift assets to 18,000 million baht. Targets are freelancers, riders, farmers, traders and village heads. For a small business owner who is self-employed, the fund is a voluntary retirement savings option: saving starts at 50 baht, up to 30,000 baht a year, with government top-ups of up to 1,800 baht a year depending on age. The "lottery for retirement" (สลาก กอช.) still needs a law change and a system build this year, and no sales date is set. No action is needed yet, but self-employed owners may want to compare it with their own retirement plans.
