Flooding in central and western Thailand (Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Lopburi, Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi) has cut vegetable supply. Wholesale cabbage fell from about 12 to 8 baht/kg and chilies from 50-70 to about 45 baht/kg, but leafy greens remain volatile and may rise again if rain continues. The Department of Internal Trade asks businesses to hold prices, add stock, spread inventory to nearby branches, plan transport and staff housing, and it is cutting egg exports 30-50% to supply the domestic market. About 1,000 million baht is being sought for cost-of-living support. If you run a shop or restaurant in affected areas, keep stock buffers and budget for Vegetarian Festival demand.

Water released below Chao Phraya dam stays at 2,500 cu m/s for about 5-6 days. Areas outside the Pathum Thani and Sam Khok flood walls may see water rise 20-60 cm. Harvest crops that can be picked now and move movable animals out of risk zones. Farmers must be registered (ทบก.) and have actual damage; crop aid covers up to 30 rai per person. Fish aid: 12,350 baht/rai for prawns and sea shellfish (max 5 rai); 4,890 baht/rai for fish in ponds, paddies or ditches (max 5 rai); 390 baht/sq m for cages or cement tanks (max 80 sq m, minimum 390 baht). Water may recede by mid-to-late October, or last into early November if new rain or tidal surge hits. Vegetable and egg prices are rising ahead of Vegetarian Festival; OAE markets in Bangkok, Phitsanulok and Nakhon Sawan open to unaffected farmers selling direct.

Three private rice mills in Phichit (Tap Khlo, Sam Ngam, Pho Thale) owe 12 agricultural cooperatives and farmer groups about 1.3 billion baht. Six cooperatives are suing for 1,283.5 million baht. Cooperatives will stop selling paddy to the mills in dispute and find new mills in nearby provinces such as Nakhon Sawan, Phitsanulok and Sukhothai. Buying from members continues as normal from November 2026. The Department of Cooperative Promotion has a fund to ease liquidity if needed. If you sell paddy or trade with Phichit mills, check payment terms and who you are selling to before the main harvest.

The PM has ordered every province to rehearse and adapt existing flood plans for a 10-day high-risk rain period in the south. Officials say reservoirs are not full and peak rainfall has not yet arrived, but heavy rain is forecast. Hat Yai's canals have been dredged and water sits well below banks. For businesses in flood-prone areas, especially the east (Prachinburi, Nakhon Nayok, Chachoengsao) and the south, this is a reason to check drainage, stock and access routes this week. The article gives no dates, compensation terms or rules for businesses.

Excise and police seized 6,050 packs of IQOS tobacco sticks stored in shophouses in Bangkok's Klong San area for online sale without paid tax. The state lost about 379,940 baht in tax, and the estimated fine is about 5.7 million baht. Nine suspects face charges under Section 204 of the Excise Tax Act 2017. About 91,616 e-cigarette devices, liquids and accessories were also found; these are not in the excise tariff, so other agencies will handle them. For a Thai business, the lesson is to buy tobacco and vape products only from licensed, tax-paid channels, and to check the origin of cheap stock before reselling it.

The Royal Irrigation Department is holding Chao Phraya dam releases at about 2,500 m³/s until the upstream level falls to roughly +16.50 m (currently +17.05 m). Pak Sak dam is at about 109–110% of normal storage and releasing 500 m³/s. The National Water Resources Office warns of flooding and bank overflow in many areas on 5–7 Oct, with heavy rain forecast for the central region and Bangkok on 6–8 Oct. If your shop, warehouse or production site is near the Chao Phraya, Pak Sak or Rangsit canals, check stock and equipment placement and keep emergency contacts ready. Releases can change daily, so follow the department's updates.

Floods have damaged vegetable farms (Ayutthaya, Nakhon Pathom, Chachoengsao) and about 3 million laying hens in Chachoengsao. The Commerce Ministry asked to hold egg prices at 4 baht and to slow egg exports by 2-3 weeks, with reports to the Department of Internal Trade every 2 weeks. Vegetables are being moved in from unaffected areas such as Phetchabun and Nakhon Ratchasima, with the effort continuing through the Vegetarian Festival. Egg supply is expected to recover by the end of this month as hen-retirement age is extended from 80 to 85 weeks. Expect volatile input costs for vegetables and eggs, and check price-display rules. Report overcharging to hotline 1569.

Flash floods at a large pig-fattening farm in Mueang Prachin Buri killed about 2,000 pigs. The Livestock Department has buried 50 carcasses so far, is disinfecting the farm and water sources, and is surveying losses for compensation under the emergency disaster relief rules. Farmers and residents who find carcasses or need help should contact the district or provincial livestock office or report via the DLD 4.0 app. Pork supply in the east may tighten, and farms in flood-prone areas should check their disease-control and flood-protection plans.

Deputy PM Phiphat, chairing flood response for 14 southern provinces, says rain will intensify through early January (2027). Preparations are at an early stage and a 800 million baht budget has been approved to repair Khlong Phutthinat Damrong (Khlong Rama I) in Hat Yai, which he believes will finish before the flood season. He would not rule out a repeat of the 2025 Hat Yai flooding. For southern SMEs: plan for flood disruption to stock, transport and premises through the end of the year, and check local warning channels, since the article notes past delays in alerts.

Industry ministry says 180–190 factories in industrial estates were damaged by the floods, about 1.8 billion baht, and figures are still being surveyed. SME D Bank has deferred principal and interest for 311 flood-hit customers, with deferral available for the full credit line for up to 12 months. Provincial industry offices are collecting lists of severely damaged firms for priority help. The Department of Industrial Works will also send inspectors to check boilers, electrical systems and switchgear after the water recedes. If your plant was hit, register with your provincial industry office and contact SME D Bank now, and get electrical and boiler checks before restarting.

The industry minister said a cabinet proposal will name Phasakorn Chairat, currently deputy permanent secretary, as the ministry's new permanent secretary; director-general posts will follow after that. Separately, the Department of Industrial Works ordered a factory in Si Maha Phot, Prachinburi, to halt operations under Section 39 after floodwaters carried its oil residue, and banned new raw material and waste intake there until the problem is fixed. Officials say the residue has no other toxic contamination, but people should avoid contact and wash off promptly. For Thai factory operators, the practical point is that Section 39 suspensions can follow flood or waste incidents, so keep waste storage and wastewater systems protected from water.

InnovestX expects the SET to trade sideways-up today with limited upside, after foreign investors net sold about ฿37bn over 10 straight sessions. Support 1,560-1,565, resistance 1,585-1,590. Flood risk is flagged for 5-7 and 11-13 October, and the cabinet is expected to discuss more relief measures. For a small business owner this is mostly background. The one practical point is that domestic-consumption and flood-recovery names are the brokerage's preferred picks, while it advises avoiding non-life insurers because of rising loss ratios. Nothing here changes day-to-day operations directly.

The cabinet's first meeting after the FY2570 budget took effect (THB 3.788 trillion) has a mixed agenda. The main item for business is a proposed 3-month extension of the emergency situation in the Deep South border provinces, from 20 Oct 2026 to 19 Jan 2027. Also on the agenda: the 2571 budget calendar, a new Industry Ministry permanent secretary, and energy and trade agreements. Nothing here changes costs or rules for a typical SME yet. If you operate in the southern border provinces, plan for the continued emergency measures.

The Trade Competition Commission has published a rule capping credit terms between large businesses (and large wholesalers/retailers) and SMEs: 30 days for farm produce and simply processed agricultural goods, 45 days for general trade, manufacturing and services. It takes effect 2 November 2026. Shorter terms already agreed still apply. Changing terms needs at least 60 days' notice and must be justified. Large buyers must state your payment rights and steps clearly. Before then, keep contracts, purchase orders, delivery proof, invoices and any change notices. Check when your payment clock starts: delivery with complete documents, or for consignment, when goods are sold.

Thailand's digital ad market is forecast at 32,339 million baht in 2026, up only 0.3%, the slowest growth in 14 years. Meta is still the largest platform at about 25% of spend but fell 4%, while TikTok rose 16% to about 24%, and Social (+29%) and E-Commerce (+28%) grew fastest. YouTube, LINE and Display fell. Spend is also split by product: skin care leads, while property, automotive and retail favour Meta. If you advertise, check where your category's buyers are and move budget toward TikTok, social and e-commerce formats rather than assuming one platform fits all. Figures come from Kantar and DAAT's agency survey, which covers about 80% of spend.

The Thai Meteorological Department warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong gusts and hail over the north, central region, Bangkok and metro area, the east and upper south for the next 24 hours. Rain is expected to increase from 9–13 October, with flash floods and flash flood runoff possible. For a small business: secure outdoor signage and stock on low ground, plan deliveries and site work around storms, and avoid open areas. Sea waves over 2 metres are forecast in parts of the Gulf and Andaman coasts, so check any boat or shipping plans.
