Toyota Motor Thailand has paused production at its Samrong, Ban Pho and Gateway plants from 5 to 10 October 2569 (2026) because floods in Samut Prakan, Chachoengsao and Chonburi are disrupting parts deliveries. The company says the dates may change and that it will contact dealers and customers if delivery dates are affected. For SME owners in automotive supply chains, flood-hit parts routes and production stoppages can hit orders and cash flow this week. Check parts and delivery schedules with your Toyota-linked customers and suppliers now.

Bangkok Bank is shutting down the Bualuang iBanking internet banking service from 15 Dec 2026. Scheduled (future-dated) transfers and payments set up there will be cancelled automatically from that date, and the scheduled-payment feature on iBanking stops from 1 Nov 2026. Before then, switch your company's transfers and payments to the Bangkok Bank mobile app, re-create every scheduled payment there, and check that users can log in (Mobile PIN, or a Temp PIN from a branch or ATM). Non-app users can register with their debit card; if details are out of date, visit a branch with your ID or passport.

Thai Airways' board suspended CEO Chai Iamsiri and named finance executive Samrit Samniang, 62, as acting CEO effective 2 October. The move follows flood disruption from 26-28 September that left ground handling staff unable to get to work, more than 10,000 bags backlogged, several delayed flights, and possible spillover into air cargo. For an SME, the direct impact is limited: watch for possible delays or cargo handling problems if you ship via THAI, and check flight schedules before time-sensitive shipments.

Transport Minister Phipat visited 26 Klong Toei communities on 2 October 2026 and said no decision has been made on moving the Klong Toei port, or whether any move would be full or partial. Development will proceed only if more than half of residents agree, and no one will be forced out. The "community title deed" idea will go to the Prime Minister for review. For Klong Toei businesses and port-linked operators, nothing changes yet, but watch for the community survey results.

The Bank of Thailand says it has issued no licences for Forex trading, brokers or related advertising, and such activity is illegal. If a platform shuts down, investors may not get their money back. Penalties include 5-10 years in prison and fines of 500,000-1,000,000 baht under the fraud-lending law. Also, Alipay and WeChat Pay must accept only baht for licensed payment services, and P2P yuan QR transfers are being cut off: at least 5,000 accounts were suspended from Feb 2025 to May 2026. If your shop takes yuan or foreign-currency payments informally, or lends its bank account for FX transfers, stop and check. Report suspicious activity to BoT hotline 1213.

Five ministries and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration have launched a single Traffy Fondue channel for flood-recovery requests covering house electrical systems, appliances, cars and motorcycles. Requests can be tracked to completion. The Labour Department's repair centres, with a 79-point network across 30 provinces and mobile units, say appliance repairs are free because of central emergency funding. Eastern Bangkok (Lat Krabang, Nong Chok, Prawet, Min Buri) remains the main critical zone. If you run a repair, electrical, or vehicle service business, or have staff who do, check whether you can join as a volunteer or contractor; if you have flood-damaged equipment, report it through the system or the 1300 hotline.

Thai Airways' board dismissed CEO Chai Eamsiri on Friday over flight delays and a backlog of over 10,000 bags and cargo pieces during Bangkok flooding that began Sep 25. Samrit Samniang is acting CEO. The airline cancelled 24 flights on Oct 1-2 and plans full operations by Oct 3. It is also reviewing ground and warehouse staffing, especially multi-tier subcontracting and outsourcing. For most SMEs this is background news, but firms that ship cargo or depend on THAI for logistics should expect schedule and handling risk for a few days.

Micron's COO says 75% of its 2027 production capacity is already booked, and bookings reach 35% for 2030. He could not say when supply will meet demand. Some prepaid contracts also reopen price talks at market rates. For a Thai business that buys PCs, servers, phones or storage, budget for memory and storage costs staying high rather than falling soon. Delay non-urgent hardware purchases only if your planning allows it, and check supplier quotes more often.

An Indian flood study found 39% of evacuees took none of the listed emergency items, and only 1% took key documents. Guidance from CDC and American Red Cross ranks what to grab: prescription medicine first, then phone with power bank, ID and insurance papers in waterproof cases, cash in small notes, water, a torch, and personal needs. Put a ready bag together before the flood season, since there is little time to pack when water rises.

Five ministries and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration launched "Traffy Fondue Repair, Build, Fight Flooding" on LINE (@TraffyFondue). Flood-hit residents can request help for home repair, electrical appliances, electrical systems, cars and motorcycles, cleaning and more. Pilot service is live in 7 provinces: Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom and Kanchanaburi. Movable items are taken to a repair point; large items or in-home systems get a technician visit. Private companies wanting to help can register via LINE @fonduehelp. Relevant if your business is hit by flooding or you can offer repair, cleaning or technical staff.

Former TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn reviews three major floods (2011, 2024 north, 2025 south). Losses go beyond the headline damage figures: airport access roads cut off stranded passengers, flooded farms raised hotel food costs and transport costs at the same time, and tourist confidence returned more slowly than the water receded. For a tourism or hospitality SME, the practical steps are to widen your suppliers, keep a backup for delivery routes, and plan for cancellations and lower revenue during flood months, especially in the south and north. The article is mostly analysis and policy advocacy rather than a new rule, so there is no immediate deadline.

Asia Plus Securities says global 10-year bond yields rose about 0.20-1.50% in a month, the Fed hiked in September 2026, and the dollar strengthened, pushing the baht weaker. Thai stock market equity-risk premium fell to about 3.7%, and foreign investors sold about US$771m of Thai stocks. The brokerage sees a weaker baht helping hospitals (BH, BDMS, BCH, PR9), tourism (AOT, CENTEL) and exporters (TU, ITC, CPF). The 30-40% cash advice is aimed at portfolio investors, not day-to-day business operations. For an SME, the practical point is that the baht may weaken a further 4-10% if history repeats, which affects import costs and export margins.

Flooding disrupted THAI flights and baggage, with over 10,000 bags delayed and about 40 flights cancelled or rescheduled. From Saturday, delayed-bag collection moves to the THAI Ground Service Maintenance building, open 24 hours. Flights are due to return to normal Saturday. Under the International Carriage By Air Act, passengers with delays of at least two hours may get food and other benefits, and bag-delay costs over 24 hours can be reimbursed up to US$100 per case on international routes and US$25 on domestic. Claims need documented receipts. If your staff or goods travel on THAI, keep all receipts and check flight status before travelling.

THAI will move delayed-baggage collection on Saturday from Suvarnabhumi terminal to the THAI Ground Service Maintenance building, open around the clock. The airline says it will try to deliver all delayed bags by Saturday night. Under the Carriage by Air Act, delayed bags entitle passengers to payment for essentials after 24 hours, and THAI reimburses up to US$100 per passenger per case on international routes and US$25 on domestic flights, provided you keep all receipts. If your staff or clients fly THAI on business, keep every receipt and claim promptly.

Thai Airways baggage collection moves on Saturday to the THAI Ground Service Maintenance building, open 24 hours. The airline says all Thai flights resume normal operations Saturday and aims to deliver delayed bags by Saturday night. More than 10,000 bags were delayed and about 40 flights cancelled or rescheduled after flooding in greater Bangkok. If your staff or goods were stuck on these flights, claim under the International Carriage By Air Act: reimbursement up to US$100 per passenger per case on international routes and US$25 on domestic, with receipts required. Delayed-bag essentials are payable after 24 hours. The Transport Ministry has promised compensation but no amount or timeline was given.

Siam Park City says flood damage is about 300 million baht and lost peak-season income, but its 195 million baht property policy may pay only about 5 million baht per flood event under its flood cover. The insurer is assessing damage now and talks on the limit are ongoing. For a small business: read your policy's flood sub-limit and whether business interruption is covered, and do not assume the total sum insured applies to a flood.

Reddit will stop supporting RSS on 13 November 2026 because it was being used for large-scale scraping. Outside bots and apps that use its Data API must move to the Developer Platform, which requires registration. Reddit says more than 14,000 apps have already registered. If your business pulls Reddit content into feeds or dashboards, check whether your tool relies on RSS or the API and plan to register or switch. Otherwise there is nothing to do.

The National Water Resources Office says upstream flows are falling and the Chao Phraya will be released at a steady 2,500 m³/s for 5-6 days, so Bangkok and Nonthaburi should be largely spared. Rain on 11-13 October could still cause ponding in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan. Areas outside the flood walls in Ayutthaya (Sena and Phak Hai) face impact and evacuation. Eastern Bang Pakong basin is at a record high, with releases limited during 11-13 October. If your premises or stock sit in these low-lying areas, prepare stock, equipment and transport before 11 October.

The Thai General Insurance Association says the national catastrophe flood policy covers homes surrounded by floodwater for more than 7 consecutive days, even if water never enters the house. Initial payment is 10,000 baht per household. Conditions: the water must surround the building itself (not just roads or the village), the area must be declared a disaster zone, and the flood must occur on or after 1 Oct 2026 under the policy period. Claims can be filed via the LINE Official Account, call centre or local claim desk with ThaiD verification and photos. Payment is within 15 days of complete documents, paid to the owner (a tenant needs a power of attorney). Check your policy now and keep photos and dated evidence of the flooding.

Pandora opened a US$150m plant in Ho Chi Minh City on 1 October 2026, its first production base outside Thailand. It plans capacity of up to 60 million pieces a year, about 50% more than its current total, and around 7,000 jobs at full operation. Pandora still runs three Thai factories, and the company says Vietnam will be about 15% of global output at first, rising to roughly a third by 2030. The article says this is not yet a move out of Thailand. For a Thai jewellery SME, watch whether Pandora shifts production lines or cuts Thai jobs. Meanwhile, Thai jewellery exports rose 9.87% in January-July 2026 excluding unwrought gold, but July alone fell 6.36%. Plan on Vietnam as a rival for new orders, not a replacement for current ones.
