Bangkok has raised several flood relief caps: house repair materials for fully damaged homes up to 88,600 baht (from 49,500), tools and working capital up to 13,500 baht per household (from 11,900), and temporary housing up to 3,000 baht a month for two months. Claims no longer need a police report and can be filed at district offices or online, with the online system expected to open the evening of 2 October 2569 (2026). Tenants can claim for non-house losses with rental proof. Document list and damage-assessment rules are still being finalised, so keep photos, ID copies, bank details and proof of damage ready.

Heavy rain has flooded parts of Bangkok and its vicinity. Alianz Ayudhya Insurance says motor and home/property claims can be filed online, and complete claims will be paid within 3 working days. Motor: file online and take the car to repair; for cars that cannot be driven, call 1292 press 7 for a tow. Home/property: scan the QR code and submit policy details, flood-level and damage photos, repair quote or receipt, and bank details. Before cleaning or moving anything, photograph or video the damage if it is safe to do so. Payouts depend on policy terms and damage level. Check your own insurer's flood-claim process now, since this is one insurer's announcement.

InnovestX estimates 2026 flood damage at about 21,000 million baht, with the worst hit in Q3 (about 19,100 million baht) as travel, spending and activity stop in flooded areas. It expects activity to recover 1-2 weeks after the water recedes, and the "Thai Chuay Thai Plus Phase 2" stimulus (up to 42,690.65 million baht, with about 15,600 million baht of expected activity) to offset much of the loss. Net impact is about 5,300 million baht; 2026 GDP forecast stays at 2.0%. October foreign arrivals may fall by about 160,000, but the 33 million full-year target is unchanged. For a flood-area business, plan for a weak Q3 cash flow and prepare to claim stimulus support in Q4.

On 1 Oct 2026 the water agency (สทนช.) said rain is easing and it is pushing water out to the Gulf of Thailand before rain returns 5-7 Oct. Chao Phraya dam releases are at 2,300 cu m/s, rising to 2,400 this afternoon. Pak Sak (109%), Vajiralongkorn (99%) and Prasae (105%) dams are near full, and the Chao Phraya and Tha Chin rivers may overflow in places. High tides in early October may slow drainage. If your shop, warehouse or stock is in the lower Chao Phraya, Tha Chin, Pak Sak or Prasae areas, move stock off low floors and check flood access and deliveries this week.

The Agriculture Ministry is surveying flood-affected farmland, mainly rice paddies in the lower Chao Phraya basin. Many fields are already 60-80% harvested, and about 15% of the lower Chao Phraya plots are still unharvested. Officials urge farmers to harvest early before water is diverted into the flood plains. Low-lying orchards should reinforce bunds and watch flood alerts. No compensation amount is set yet; aid depends on verified damage, so farmers and suppliers linked to affected rice or orchard land should keep harvest and loss records and register with local agriculture offices.

Flooding and system problems at Suvarnabhumi air cargo are delaying exports, raising logistics costs and straining buyer confidence. The Thai Shipping and Forwarding Association (สรท.) wants a daily government War Room and alternative capacity and routes, but has not yet put a damage figure on it. Exporters of fresh food, electronics, auto parts and just-in-time goods are most exposed. Contact overseas buyers now to discuss delivery dates, keep records of the disruption, and check force majeure clauses in your contracts. Consider alternative airports or routes for urgent shipments.

The Interior Ministry says the public flood insurance pays 10,000 baht within 15 days. Coverage starts 00.01 on 1 Oct and needs the area to be in a declared flood disaster zone; GISTDA satellite maps will confirm boundaries, so no site survey or photos are needed. Ongoing events before 1 Oct do not qualify. House repairs are a lump sum from 1 Nov (e.g. 10,000 baht at 50 cm water). Check whether your premises and area are inside a declared zone and keep your own records for cash-flow planning.

Brokerage Asia Plus reports foreign investors sold about 30,600 million baht of Thai stocks over 7 trading days, as US 10-year bond yields hit 5.30%, the highest since 2007. It estimates flood damage of 5,000-10,000 million baht over one week and sees Q3 2026 GDP slowing to 2.1-2.2%. For a small business, plan for weaker domestic demand and a tighter cash position, and watch flood-hit areas and the Golden Week tourism slowdown. Higher global rates also mean borrowing costs may stay elevated.

Chao Phraya Express Boat raised all fares by 1 baht from Monday 5 October 2026, citing diesel at 41.49 baht/litre (as of 24 September). Examples: Nonthaburi-Wat Rajsingkhon orange line 18 to 19 baht; Pak Kret-Sathorn green-yellow line 35 to 36 baht. The company says it will cut fares again if diesel falls. For a business, this is a small added commuting cost for staff or delivery crews who use the river route, and a signal that transport costs are rising with diesel.

Heavy flooding has forced Toyota to temporarily halt 4 plants and Thai Airways to suspend cargo operations (planned through 6 October) after staff could not get to work. Bangkok was declared a disaster zone after 320 mm of rain in 3 days. The Meteorological Department expects more heavy rain on 5-8 October, mainly in the north and northeast, and the PM warns that floodwater from the north still threatens Bangkok, Pathum Thani and central provinces. Check delivery and shipping plans now, expect delays in service, retail, wholesale and construction, and keep stock of key items. Government says the water should recede within 2-3 days, but the risk window runs into next week.

As of 1 Oct 2026 (07.00), flow at C.2 Nakhon Sawan reached 2,610 m³/s, and the Chao Phraya Dam will release in steps of up to 2,500 m³/s. Water downstream of the dam may rise a further 20-60 cm. Six provinces are on watch: Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani and Nonthaburi. If your shop, warehouse, or site is in these low-lying districts, check stock and equipment placement, plan access routes, and be ready to move quickly if authorities issue evacuation notices. Reservoirs nationwide are at 80% of capacity.

ThaiBMA lists at least 12 companies planning corporate bond sales in October 2026, from AA- rated GULF and A+ rated TRUE at about 2-3.4% to unrated A5 at 7.20-7.30%. Most of these are large listed firms that only affect a small business indirectly. Borrowing costs for well-rated large companies are low, while unrated high-yield paper pays much more. For an SME, this is background on credit-market pricing; it does not change your own loan terms or planning this quarter.

Global gold fell 5.8% in late September 2026 to below US$4,200/oz, and Thai gold bars dropped 3,850 baht to under 66,000 baht per baht-weight. A weaker baht cushioned the local fall. KResearch says four factors will set the direction: Middle East tensions and energy prices, US bond yields, Fed signals, and US economic and inflation data. Its view is that any recovery may be limited and short-term volatility high. If your business holds gold for sale, buying stock, or jewellery pricing, reprice and time purchases with these drivers in mind rather than assuming a quick rebound.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reported flooding on several roads, mostly in northern and eastern districts, with depths from 5 to 40cm. Worst spots include Luang Phaeng Road at Lotus's Lat Krabang (40cm, impassable), Lat Krabang Road near Suvarnabhumi airport, Krungthep Kreetha, Suwinthawong and Chalong Krung (20-30cm). If your delivery, staff commute or customer access runs through Lat Krabang, Min Buri, Sai Mai or Khlong Sam Wa areas, plan alternative routes and delay vehicle movements until levels drop.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart reported on 1 October 2026 that water is starting to drain from the Khlong Chan–Lat Phrao housing area, and the city is speeding up recovery in Lat Krabang and Saphan Sung. The article text is truncated, so no details on road closures, compensation or business support are available. If your shop or workshop is in these eastern or northern districts, check the BMA and district office for updates before restocking or reopening, and plan for possible delays in deliveries and customer traffic.

The Interior Ministry launched a state-funded disaster policy covering flood, storm and earthquake damage for 30 million households, running 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027 and renewed yearly. Home cover is up to 100,000 baht per event per household, with a 10,000-baht payout for flood-induced isolation over 7 days, plus 2 million baht accident cover per person. For a business owner, this mainly affects your home and staff's personal exposure. It does not show that business premises or stock are covered, so check your own property insurance separately.

Per the Gold Traders Association at 09:09 on 1 Oct 2026, gold fell 250 baht versus the prior close. Jewellery (96.5%) sells at 67,100 baht per baht-weight and buys back at about 64,779 baht. Bar gold buys at 66,100 and sells at 66,300 baht. World spot is about US$4,157/oz. If you hold gold stock or take gold as payment, reprice your stock and check buy-back spreads before trading. The gap between sell and buy-back prices is wide, so avoid buying and reselling jewellery in the short term.

On 30 Sep, UKMTO reported three ships, including one crude tanker, were attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears over Middle East supply. West Texas crude rose to US$90.42/bbl (+1.04) and Brent to US$103.53/bbl (+0.94). Goldman Sachs estimates Gulf oil exports, including dark and ship-to-ship flows, recovered to about 23.3m bbl/day, which may cap the rise. For a Thai SME, this signals that diesel and fuel costs could stay volatile. Review fuel budgets and delivery surcharges, and watch the pump price for the coming weeks.

KResearch says FCD deposit balances fell about 2.4% year to date to end-July 2026, after four years of double-digit growth. Savers are converting dollars back to baht because the weaker baht gives more baht per dollar. Most FCD accounts are savings accounts paying under 4%, and corporate accounts mainly serve as natural hedges for trade receipts and payments. For a business holding USD or JPY, a weak baht means converting now gets more baht, while SCB's e-FCD promo pays 5% on the first 25,000 USD, but only for deposits made 1 Aug to 31 Dec 2026.

The Prime Minister chaired a second day of the national flood command meeting (บกปภ.ช.) on 1 Oct. Several areas are improving, but he warned that floodwater could return, dam releases and flash floods remain possible, and every province must stay at top readiness. Officials were told to clear accumulated flood waste quickly to prevent hygiene and pollution problems. For a Thai SME, the practical point is to check flood exposure at your premises, stock-up plans, and whether access roads and suppliers in affected provinces are operating. No new subsidy, tax or permit change is announced in this article.
