Commercial banks listed 13,432 second-hand homes for sale in Q2 2026, up 122.9% year on year, worth 50,069 million baht (up 86.5%), per REIC. SCB EIC says banks are clearing non-performing assets (NPAs) to cut holding costs, and the market is competitive. Analysts expect foreclosures may rise, with buyers in the 50,000-70,000 baht income band flagged as under strain. For an SME owner, this means bank-owned properties may offer better prices and loan promotions, and businesses that sell or rent property or supply fit-outs to this segment should watch demand carefully.

Gold Traders Association prices at 09:04 on 9 Sep 2026: gold bars buy 67,950 and sell 68,150 baht per baht-weight; jewellery-grade gold sells at 68,950 baht (buy-back 66,597.88). Prices are down 450 baht from the previous close. World spot gold is about US$4,374 an ounce. If you buy or sell gold stock, for jewellery or as a store of value, check the live price before quoting or transacting, since the buy-back spread is wide.

The House is in the final readings of the 2027 (BE 2570) budget bill, totalling 3.788 trillion baht. Six independent agencies (EC, NACC, Constitutional Court, Ombudsman, State Audit Office, National Human Rights Commission) would receive about 11.5 billion baht combined, with several budget lines trimmed. For a small business owner this is background only: no tax, fee, or permit change follows directly, so there is no action needed beyond general awareness of the government spending outlook.

Analysts say Hormuz shipping is down sharply, but markets have adjusted through rerouted tankers, Egyptian ports, and extra non-OPEC supply, so Brent may hold around $90 on average. Morgan Stanley sees Brent averaging about $100 in Q4. Goldman estimates each 10% oil rise lifts US CPI by about 0.28 points. The main risk is oil staying near $100 or above for about three months, which could lead the Fed to hold or raise rates. For a Thai SME, this is a background signal on fuel costs and the baht, not an immediate action point. Watch fuel prices and any borrowing plans tied to US rates.

Cabinet approval is still pending. Operators (hotels and tourism-linked shops, restaurants, cafes, spas, taxis, souvenir shops) can start registering from 1 October 2026; people register via the Paotang app from 25 October and can travel from 1 November. Accommodation subsidy is up to 1,500 baht per night, max 5 nights. Vouchers are 50:50 co-pay, 1,500 baht base, rising to 2,000 baht in secondary cities. Hotels must declare room rates at registration and face blacklisting for price hikes. Blackout 15 Dec 2026 to 15 Jan 2027. Plan room pricing and staffing now, and check whether your business qualifies.

The baht opened on 9 Sep 2026 at 32.89 per US dollar, slightly stronger than the prior close of 32.93. TTB expects a 24-hour range of 32.70 to 33.00. Markets are watching the US Fed meeting on 15-16 Sep (CME FedWatch puts a 60% chance on a 0.25% hike) and the BOJ meeting on 17-18 Sep, where a hike to 1.25% is expected. For importers, price quotes and dollar-denominated contracts, a stronger baht lowers local-currency costs; for exporters, it trims baht revenue. Review FX exposure and pricing before those meetings.

The Thai Meteorological Department warns of heavy to very heavy rain in the North and Northeast first, spreading to Central, Bangkok, the East and the South over the next few days. Flash floods and mountain runoff are the main risk. A low-pressure area in the South China Sea may become a tropical storm around 11–13 Sep. If you run a shop, workshop or delivery route in low-lying or flood-prone areas, plan stock, deliveries and staff travel for 10–13 Sep, and keep an eye on the forecast. Sea waves may reach 2 m or more, so check any shipping or boat trips.

Several PTT Group chief executives are retiring or changing: PTT's CEO retires in April 2027, PTTEP's new CEO starts 1 October 2026, OR is recruiting a successor (applications 22 Sept to 5 Oct 2026), and GPSC's CEO retires in October 2026. Thai Airways' CEO term ends January 2027. For an SME owner this is background only. Nothing to change in pricing, staffing or budgeting, unless you supply these companies, where new leadership may shift procurement later.

Thailand's Department of Public Works and the Bangkok governor's office are drafting zoning and building rules for data centres. Large facilities would be limited to designated zones; small and medium ones could go in residential, commercial, rural or industrial zones with setback and coverage conditions. Electricity and water use criteria are still under discussion, and the Energy Ministry may set power or solar requirements. For most SME owners this is a background change: it matters mainly if you plan to lease land or buildings near data centre projects, or supply them.

An engineering professor analysed the flash floods and mudslides in Pua district, Nan, where 384 mm of rain fell in about four hours. He says small upstream reservoirs are silting up, have trees growing on their dams, and are unlikely to withstand earthquakes. He warns that communities below may feel falsely safe. If your business is in or near a valley below a small reservoir, check your flood and evacuation plan and keep stock and equipment off the ground floor.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand is lowering market-cap, revenue and profit thresholds for IPOs in 10 target sectors (agri-food, biofuels, medical, creative tourism, modern automotive, aviation/logistics, digital commerce, smart electronics, robotics, deep tech), effective 11 September 2569. BOI is considering extra incentives for listing, with its board meeting on 11 September. For most small Thai businesses this is background only: a listing is a multi-year capital route, not a near-term funding option. Watch it if you operate in one of these sectors and plan to raise capital.

The draft FY2570 budget (spending from 1 October 2026) is 3.788 trillion baht with a deficit of about 788 billion baht. Public debt is about 12.68 trillion baht, or 66.35% of GDP as of 31 March 2569 (2026). Government forecasts 2570 growth of 1.7-2.7%, inflation of 0.5-1.5%, and a current-account surplus of 1.6% of GDP. The article also cites energy-crisis borrowing of roughly 400 billion baht and heavy off-budget spending. For a Thai SME, this signals fiscal room for public spending but a debt load that limits future stimulus, and the growth and inflation ranges are useful planning inputs for next year's pricing and hiring.

Per Bangchak's 9 Sep 2026 pump prices: B7 diesel 39.84 baht/litre, B20 34.84 (up 0.70), Gasohol 95 39.09 (up 0.80), Gasohol 91 38.72, E20 34.09, E85 30.03. Prices exclude the Bangkok local land tax and take effect at 05.00 the next day. For fleets, delivery vehicles and kitchen-heavy businesses, fuel cost is rising; check your pump price and budget or reprice delivery fees accordingly. Figures are for reference, so confirm at your station.

Eppo's draft 2026 Power Development Plan (PDP) runs to 2050. It proposes 9,000MW of small modular reactors, with EGAT building the first 300MW unit by 2037 and private investors invited to develop the rest later. Natural gas, now about 60% of power generation, falls below 29% by 2037, and no new coal plants are planned. For a small business, this is long-range: no near-term change to tariffs or operations. Watch the electricity cost direction and the renewable and smart-grid rules that will shape future power supply.

The Finance Ministry proposed replacing the 50% co-payment in Thai Teaw Thai Plus with a flat-rate hotel subsidy to curb high room rates, but the Tourism and Sports Ministry wants to keep co-payment. Hotel groups favour co-payment, saying travellers already know it and it spreads demand across hotel sizes. A fixed subsidy of about 2,000 baht a night would mostly help rooms around 3,000 baht. The ministry plans to launch next month. Small and budget hotel owners should check which mechanism is final before pricing and promotion plans.

From 1 November, platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and X must verify advertisers' identity before publishing paid ads in Thailand. Verification can use an ID document matched to the user (possibly via facial comparison) or a reliable digital ID system. Authenticated advertisers within the past year are exempt. If you run paid ads, prepare your national ID or juristic-person registration certificate, and keep ad records (advertiser, contact details, payer if different) for at least 90 days after each ad ends. Ads from unverified accounts may be blocked.

The US is expected to announce final tariff levels later this month after its Section 301 investigation. Gemstones now face a 12.5% US tariff, up from 0% before reciprocal tariffs. Exporters selling to the EU must document sustainability, carbon footprint and human rights compliance. Gold and silver price rises are squeezing producers and buyers, with prices expected to climb further later this year. Exports including gold rose 14.3% in the first seven months of 2026, and about 800,000 people work across the supply chain. The Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair runs 8-12 September.

Headline only available: Brent crude is heading toward $100 and the Indian rupee had its sharpest fall in over a month. Thai SMEs should watch fuel and imported input costs and check whether their supplier prices are about to move.

CP's Asia Era One has not yet confirmed a proposed 4-month extension of the Airport Rail Link operating MOU (to 31 Jan 2570) that would let the State Railway of Thailand's subsidiary take over. The transport minister says service will not stop on 1 Oct. Only 4 of 9 trains were running after wheel-wear problems since 7 Sep, with 8 expected by 14 Sep. Affected businesses near the line or relying on airport transfers should plan for possible timetable changes and a handover period rather than a sudden shutdown.

The government has finalised the Thai Thiew Thai Plus tourism scheme: a flat 1,500 baht hotel subsidy per right nationwide, 1 million rights, up to 5 per person. Co-payment coupons rise to 1,500 baht in main cities and 2,000 baht in secondary towns, usable beyond restaurants at spas, massage and nail shops, transport, tour activities and souvenir shops. Registration opens 1 October 2026 (2569 BE). Sales period: 1 Nov – 15 Dec 2026 and 16 Jan – 28 Feb 2027, with a gap in between. Hotels, spas, tour operators and shops should prepare for the booking window and price for co-pay customers.
